Every man and his dog will be in Gundaroo this Sunday, and that’s not just a saying! Pooches of all shapes and sizes, and their owners, are heading to Gundaroo to try their luck in the dog events.
Visitors will probably see Peter Weber and his trusty side-kick, Ice, on their way to compete in Gundaroo’s famous Yard Dog Trials at the Gundaroo Bush Festival, Sunday 9 November, 10am – 4pm.
Peter Weber, explains in this Audio News Release (ANR) what it takes to make a good working dog and the prizes up for grabs on the day.
“Anyone can bring their dog to the Yard Dog Trials,” says the former Walgett, now newly settled Gundaroo farmer. “A good working dog will get in the yard and start to work the sheep into shape.”
“There’s some good prizes up for grabs for the best dog, from collars through to dog biscuits and cash.”
Ice and Peter have been working together for a couple of years now and Peter reckons he might have a trick or two up his sleeve. The black Kelpie certainly looks the part, but can he ‘cut the mustard’ when it comes to the muster?
“Come out and have a look,” smiles Peter Webber. “Bring your dog and see what they can do.”
For the pup that prefers the high fashion stakes, there’s always the dog fancy dress competition. Like the yard dog trials, the fancy dress competition also has some great prizes up for grabs. Other dog events include the dog high jump, iron dog and terrier race. For more information, visit the official Telstra Gundaroo Bush Festival website: www.gundaroobushfestival.org.au
And for the record, Ice and Peter will give the fancy dress competition as miss. This year.
