Local artists have inundated organisers of the Gundaroo Bush Festival Telstra Art Show with a dynamic range of quality artworks.
Local artist John Forrester-Clack says, “There is a fantastic diversity of work in the festival exhibition from committed professionals, young creative artists, dedicated amateurs and people who paint for the joy of it.”
The art show is open for public viewing on Sunday 9 November, 10 am – 4 pm.
“There is something for everyone here – you can come along and see some truly beautiful landscapes or something more challenging and thought provoking,” John Forrester-Clack says.
The competition has attracted more than 150 entrants from around the region, and in a wide variety of media including painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, photographs, jewellery and textiles.
A number of local Gundaroo artists are exhibiting their work, including John Forrester-Clack. “It is a great opportunity for me to show my real work – the work that is really important to me – in the community which I am part of.”
“Gundaroo is an amazing place – there is such a diversity of people living here. You share your life with people who are incredibly down-to-earth, people who are farmers, intellectuals, top executives, artists and environmentalists,” he says. “It’s fascinating, a great community to be part of.”
Judging of the show will take place ahead of the Gundaroo Bush Festival with winning artists announced on the day. All works will be on display in four venues: Gundaroo Soldiers Memorial Hall, Anglican Church, Gundaroo Community Church and the Gundaroo School (which will display the local children’s art).
The non-profit Gundaroo Bush Festival has been in existence for more than 10 years and is proudly organised by the Gundaroo village community. All proceeds go to local charities.
